Kindergartners from Jefferson and Knickrehm Elementary Schools finished their butterfly science unit by partnering with Pheasants forever on a wonderful project before closing out the school year... planting milkweed.
Why milkweed?
As our Kindergartners learned through their dedicated science learning time this year, milkweed helps preserve the Monarch butterfly population.
Thanks to the Nebraska chapter of Pheasants Forever, Grand Island Public Schools has a plot of ripe ground at the entrance of Heartland Public Shooting Park where our Kindergartners may cultivate a thriving milkweed garden year after year.
Way to go, kids!
