Welcome to Newell Elementary

Brad WolfeWelcome to the A.B. Newell Knight website!  We are a proud school with great students, parents, and staff who embrace the district motto of "Every Student; Every Day, a Success!"  Currently our school is comprised of approximately 427 students in kindergarten through fifth grade.  We have a learning environment which fosters high expectations in student learning, respect for one another, and having "fun" through the learning process.  We also have an active PTA which provides us with many human and financial resources to assist improving student goals in learning.  Thank you for visiting our website to learn more about our school.  If you have any questions, please email or give us a call.

What does it mean to learn something?   Dictionary definition:  "to gain knowledge, comprehension, or mastery."

"To learn is an achievement, not just an activity or a process.  It does not make sense to say that a student or staff member 'learned, but did not 'understand.' Nor will it do, then, for teachers to say, 'I taught them, but they didn't learn."   --Wiggins and McTighe (2007)
