District Youth Choir
The purpose of this ensemble is to give students a creative outlet in which to expand their musical knowledge and skills, connect with the world through performance, and experience what it is like to sing a formal choir.
The GIPS Youth Choir (formerly GIPS Children’s Choir) is a fun, performance-focused choir for students who love to sing and enjoy being on stage!
Fall Semester: We’ll prepare music for our December Winter Concert with the GISH Concert Choir, featuring Maestro Eric Knapp at the organ. Maestro Knapp is an internationally recognized conductor from New York City who has conducted music for the Olympic Opening Ceremonies in Beijing and London.
Second Semester: The choir will transition into more of a show choir feel, with fun music, light choreography, and, of course, plenty of singing!
AUDITIONS FOR 2025-2026
Parents/guardians must fill out the Children's Choir Registration Form in order for their student to audition.
Auditions will take place Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026 at Grand Island Senior High from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Please enter through the east entrance of GISH (the Auditorium entrance door 34) for the audition and rehearsals. Check in at 4:00 p.m.; Pick-Up is at 5:00 p.m.
No need to prepare anything musically ahead of time!

Anyone unable to attend auditions can send a recording of "My Country 'Tis of Thee" and a scale on "la la la" to kwelk@gips.org by Thursday, September 10th to be considered.
Rehearsals are weekly - Tuesdays at GISH - 4:00 p.m. check in and 5:00 p.m. pick up.
