ParentVUE is an online portal that provides parents and guardians with secure access to their student's academic information, including grades, attendance, and teacher listings.

ParentVUE (New) is the new mobile app families will need to download to access school information for their student. 

Student information will be available in ParentVUE (New) starting on August 3rd, 2026. 
 

ParentVUE How-To Guide

We ask all parents and guardians to take a moment to log in to ParentVUE and verify that your contact information is up-to-date. This ensures you receive important communications regarding your student's education. Emergency contacts should also be updated in ParentVUE.

Please note, we need at least one emergency contact that is not a guardian for each child. This person needs to be someone that could help us locate the guardian in case of an emergency. This person does not have to live in Grand Island.  If you have questions, reach out to your school Secretary.

AUGUST 12

• First day for Kindergarten, 6th Grade, and 9th Grade only
• Early dismissals - 2:00 p.m. for Kindergarten; 1:50 p.m. for 6th Grade; & 2:00 p.m. for 9th Grade
   

AUGUST 13

• First day for ALL grades
• Early dismissal - 2:00 p.m. for K- 5
• Full Day for 6 - 12
   

AUGUST 14

• Early dismissal - 2:00 p.m. for 1- 5 (No Kindergarten)

Grades have different lists of recommended items for school supplies. High school students are told by individual teachers what supplies they'll need.

These supplies are not a requirement to attend school.

Breakfast and lunch meals will be continue to be available to all students at no cost at all of our schools for the 2025-26 school year.
 

Due to current needs and qualifications, GIPS has again qualified for Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) across the district.  CEP provides an alternative funding source supported by federal reimbursement in order to provide meals at no cost to every student at Grand Island Public Schools.

Extra or a la carte items will still need to be purchased separately.

Grand Island Public Schools is committed to preparing students for the variety of opportunities they will encounter whether that be in the classroom, in the arts, in a sport, or in a professional setting. Our students deserve to be confident AND prepared. At GIPS, we advocate for our students to "Dress for Success".

Below are a few updated guidelines the district has provided for appearance expectations while at school.

Attire Guidelines:

• Freedom of expression with respect to updated apparel guidelines.
• Apparel must comply with the health and safety codes and not detract from learning.
• For all students, mid-thigh to top of chest are to be covered while also concealing all undergarments.
• District required masks, approved religious attire, or protective headwraps are approved; At this time - due to safety - hoods, caps, bandanas, durags, etc. are not approved.
• Apparel that is advertising or advocating for controlled or illegal substances, or promoting a hostile environment will not be permitted.
• For grades 6-12, school issued ID shall be made visible on the upper torso.

Our goal is to help our students feel ready to engage in all the endeavors a given day may bring. Any questions regarding Dress for Success guidelines may be shared with a teacher or your building principal. GIPS is happy to provide support in our joint eorts to empower students to be condent and prepared.

Cell Phones and personal electronic devices (airpods, etc.) are not permitted in the classroom. During school hours, all cell phones and personal electronic devices must be in backpacks, pockets, and out of sight. Accommodations will be made for students that require a personal electronic device for medical assistance.

Various health forms are required to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students. Forms may be faxed to your school, emailed to your school nurse, or returned to the school office when buildings are open.

All students are required to have a physical examination completed by a healthcare provider for Preschool or Kindergarten and 7th grade.  Any student who transfers to GIPS from out of the state or out of the country is required to have a physical examination by a healthcare provider before they attend school. 

Sports physicals are required for any student grades 7-12 who wish to participate in activities during the school year. Please check with your school principal, athletic director, coach, or school nurse if you have any questions.

Certain immunizations are also required by the State of Nebraska before students may attend school.
