This course is comprised of Aerospace Science, Leadership Education and Wellness. The Aerospace Science portion of the course is an aviation history course focusing on the development of flight throughout the centuries. It starts with ancient civilizations, and then progresses through time to modern day. Leadership education is an integral part of the instruction. During this first course the student is introduced to the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) program. The course includes instruction on both the cadet and Air Force organizational structure; uniform wear; customs, courtesies, and other military traditions. The Drill and Ceremonies course is integrated in this course as part of Leadership Education. Cadets are provided fundamental and in-depth instruction in Air Force drill and ceremonies. Wellness is an official part of the Air Force Junior ROTC program. It is an exercise program focused upon individual improvement with the goal of achieving a national standard as calculated by age and gender. This class counts for five hours of elective credit and it is also capped at 100 students.
