GIPS Board of Education Accepting Applications for Vacant Ward C Seat

The Grand Island Public Schools Board of Education accepted the resignation of Board Member Katherine Mauldin at their August 8th meeting.


In accordance with state law, the Board will begin the process of appointing an individual to complete the remainder of Ms. Mauldin’s term.


The Grand Island Public School Board of Education is encouraging community members to consider this volunteer position in support of public education and the students of Grand Island Public Schools.


Patrons interested in being considered for the appointment must be a resident of the school district, and reside within Ward C, and be a qualified registered voter.

The application for this position may be found at the bottom of this article.  Also, a copy of the application may be picked up at the Superintendent's office located at 123 Webb Road in Grand Island.  Completed applications must be received at the superintendent’s office no later than 4:00 pm on Monday, September 9, 2024.  

The Board will interview applicants during their regular board meeting on September 12th.  The appointee will be selected following the interviews. The newly appointed board member will take the oath of office at a special Board meeting on September 23rd.
