School Climate Survey to be Offered in September

GIPS News Graphic

August 30, 2023

Starting next week 3rd - 12th Grade students in the district will have an opportunity to participate in the GIPS Fall School Climate Survey.

The survey for students will be open throughout the dates of September 5th - September 21st.

As a public school district, we have a state requirement to offer a survey every year to our students, parents, and staff to measure how students feel about the culture and climate in their schools.  We provide this survey to students once in the Fall and once in the Spring.  Panorama is the survey tool we have used for this survey since 2018.

We value all student voices. Offering our annual School Climate Survey is a meaningful way for students to share their honest experiences and opinions about how they feel while at school.

Here are a few more helpful details:

  • Minimal core instructional time is used for this survey. The survey should take no more than 30 minutes to complete for students.

  • Students will have the option to take the survey in one of four languages (English, Spanish, Arabic, or Somali).  They may also request support from an interpreter at their building.

  • For Elementary schools, a student’s teacher and other school staff may support the survey process by reading questions out loud or clarifying details.

  • A resource of information, FAQs, and sample reports may be found on the Panorama at GIPS webpage

Parents / Guardians may opt out for their student’s participation in the School Climate survey.  A copy of our one page Opt Out Form must be submitted for each student requesting to opt out, HERE.

All Opt Out Forms must be submitted to Dr. Summer Stephens, GIPS Associate Superintendent, at sstephens@gips.org by September 4th no later than 5:00 p.m.
