March 19th, 2024
Grand Island Public Schools (GIPS) is pleased to share that Mr. Jess McHargue will be moving into a leadership role within GIPS! Starting this summer, McHargue will serve as an Assistant Principal at Barr Middle School.
McHargue has been teaching English Language Arts at Barr Middle School since 2023 and was assigned as a core team leader. He earned his Bachelor's degree at the University of Nebraska at Kearney and his Masters degree at Chadron State College.
“This new role in my educational career is one I am very excited about,” McHargue shared. “As the AP at Barr, I am looking forward to the next school year as our staff and students continue the growth from this year's momentum and hard work on the field of competition, on the performing stage, and most importantly in the classroom.”
His experiences were positively shaped over the years, as McHargue affirmed he has been blessed to work alongside fabulous educators and supportive administrators.
“Effective education is undoubtedly a team effort,” McHargue expressed, “and as my role on the Barr Middle School team evolves, it is the collaborative effort of all Barr employees that will lead to the success of our students in the years to come.”
As an Assistant Principal for the Bulldogs, McHargue will serve alongside current Barr Assistant Principals Jessica Myers and Sheree Stockwell. Stockwell, currently a Barr AP, will begin her leadership role as Barr Principal this summer, as current Barr Principal Joe Eckerman will assume his new role of MTSS Positive Supports Coordinator for the district.
Mr. McHargue will assume his new role this summer, and is excited to get started.
“I am looking forward to being a part of a great team and helping students find success during their time at Barr Middle School,” McHargue shared.
Grand Island Public Schools and Barr Middle School are excited to welcome Mr. McHargue in his new role!
