Meal Plans / Free & Reduced for '22-'23

July 28, 2022

Over the past two years, GIPS Nutrition Services has happily served meals at no cost to all students, regardless of income.  However, the federal funding required to continue feeding all students at no cost for the upcoming school year has expired.

Due to that expiration, cafeteria meals will no longer be free for all students this school year.

Please note that free meals will continue to be available at our CEP (Community Eligible Provision) schools:  Lincoln, Knickrehm, Jefferson, Howard, West Lawn, Dodge, Starr, Wasmer, Seedling Mile and the O’Conner Early Learning Center.

Free and reduced meals will still be available to those who qualify at non-CEP schools. A new application must be filled out each year; one per household.  The application may be found by clicking the link below:

Free or Reduced Meals for the ‘22-’23 School Year

Additional resources regarding meals may be found online as well (click the links below):

Paper applications for free or reduced-price food applications will be available in every school beginning on Aug. 1.  Senior High students and families will also be able to complete applications at the upcoming Islander Premiere next Tuesday (8/02) and Wednesday (8/03).

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your building principal or the district Nutrition Services Team at 308.385.5900.

Be sure to follow GIPS Eats on Facebook for more updates and menu announcements.  Other back to school resources may be found on the district website.

Thank you for your continued support!
