2021-2022 Kindergarten Ready

The 2021-2022 school year will look a little different from most school years across all grades, including for our kindergarten students and parents.

Often times on the first day, parents walk their children into the school building for kindergarten. With our safety protocols in place this year due to COVID-19, we will not be able to allow parents to do this. We know this will be a difficult time for parents; decades of experience with first days of kindergarten have shown us how important this day is. We are also saddened by this restriction, but it is in place to keep our kids, staff and families all as safe as possible.

We will be hosting Zoom conferencing calls with parents and kindergartners during the first week of school. Each school principal will be reaching out to parents to schedule these, so please be sure your contact information is up to date in the ParentVue app.

This year, kindergarten students will spend the first two days of school participating in many activities to meet friends and to get to know the building. Children will also spent time with each Kindergarten teacher. Students will be dismissed at 2 p.m. on the first two days of school: Wednesday, Aug. 11 and Thursday, Aug. 12. Teachers will give informal assessments and observe the students on these days. Kindergarten students will not attend class on Friday, Aug. 13, to allow for the forming of class lists and preparation for the following day.

Communication will be provided by each school regarding Kindergarten Open House, an opportunity for kindergarten students and parents to meet all kindergarten teachers and questions can be asked.

Schools will be in communication with parents for complete details. At this event, parents will learn their student's teacher and classmates for the duration of the school year.
