At Grand Island Public Schools we strive to make sure parents are involved with their students' education. To assist this process, we provide a number of online resources.

Students have access to many valuable online digital resources.  At the time of review, the following list of resources met district criteria deeming them curricularly aligned and safe for student use. Vendors may change their Terms of Service and Privacy Policies; therefore, approval statuses are subject to change.

Child literacy development

The following resources share strategies for parents to support their child's literacy development at home.

Nebraska READS: Nebraska READS provides tools and resources to support high quality literacy instruction for all Nebraska students. The initiative highlights policies, procedures, and practices that guide the selection and implementation of literacy practices and evidence-based interventions, and assists districts as they build family, community, and school partnerships to help students become successful readers, setting them up to learn, graduate, and succeed.

Reading Rockets:  Reading Rockets is a national public media literacy initiative offering information and resources on how young kids learn to read, why so many struggle, and how caring adults can help.

ReadWriteThink: ReadWriteThink's mission is to provide educators, parents, and afterschool professionals with access to the highest quality practices in reading and language arts instruction by offering the very best in free materials.

Infinite Campus Parent Portal

The Infinite Campus Student Information System provides the Grand Island Public Schools with the integrated tools needed to streamline student administration, enable stakeholder collaboration and individualize instruction. Infinite Campus is web-based so educators, parents and students have access to information from anywhere at any time. The system also serves as a district-wide data warehouse allowing student data to be entered once and leveraged across the entire district supporting data-driven decision making.

Some of the areas included in Infinite Campus are attendance, census and enrollment, health, registration and scheduling, assessment, teacher grade book, parent and student portal, food service and user notices. To get signed up on Infinite Campus, visit with your school's secretary.  If you are already registered, you can sign in here or click the Infinite Campus link in the menu.

PTA/PTO, Booster Clubs

Parents play an active role in their child's education journey. We are pleased each of our schools have a PTA, PTO or Booster Club parents can join to help support students and GIPS staff. For information about your child's school's parent organization, contact the school principal.
