*Children need fresh air and exercise, so we will be going outside on nearly all days.  Please make sure your child is dressed for possible weather changes at this time of year!

*Make sure to mark backpacks, hats, gloves, and coats with your child's name in permanent marker.  We collect dozens of clothing items that students lose throut the year.  If they are labeled we can return them to the proper owner.

School Wellness:
The School District of Grand Island has a Wellness Policy that we must follow.  The biggest impact is in celebration of birthday and the types of treats that can be brought to school.  Here is a summary of the policy:
1.  All treats brought to school will need to be store-bought and not homemade.
2.  All treats will need to be on the USDA appproved list (www.gips.org under the Wellness section).
3.  Food brought for school parties will need to be from the approved list.
4.  There are times when parents bring lunch to school for their children.  If you do bring lunch, please bring the healthy choices such as apple slices instead of fries and milk choice instead of soda.  We will not let soda or sugary drinks be served in the lunchroom.

***Cupcakes, cakes, cookies, candy, and sugary drinks will not be able to be served at school.

BIKES:
If your student rides a bike to school, please make sure they have a bike lock for it.  Bikea are only secure at school if the student locks it to the bike rack.
