GIPS+ is the Grand Island Public Schools Extended Learning Opportunities (ELOs) program. Unique programs, typically found outside the school day, are available for students at each GIPS school. Examples include:

  • Run clubs
  • Homework clubs
  • Student organizations
  • Athletic teams
  • Robotics clubs
  • Makerspaces
  • Music groups
  • and many more interest-based learning opportunities

Howard Run Club

  • When: September-May, Thursdays & Fridays, 3:45-4:30 p.m.
  • Where: Howard gym
  • Who: Students in grades 3-5
  • Join the Howard Run Club sponsors as we get - and stay - in shape through various running and exercise activities. Students prepare for the annual GIPS 5k in May, and also earn the right to purchase running shoes, get a run club t-shirt and register for other local road races.

Makerspace Club

  • When: October-April, Wednesday, 3:45-4:30 p.m.
  • Where: Howard media center
  • Who: Students in grades 2-5
  • Students will learn to think, make and create. Each week they will be presented with a new challenge and a new opportunity to solve problems using technology, art supplies and whatever is on hand: Robots, pipe cleaners, paper towel rolls, construction paper and more!
