We had an excellent event this year, with a record number of participants and beautiful running weather (ok, a little chill in the air, but not terrible).
Unfortunately, we have been informed by the company we hired to do the timing that their equipment failed. We have no times for the 1-mile race and clock-time only on the 5k. Here is a statement from the timing company:
To all participants and sponsors of the 2016 #WeAreGIPS 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run,
I owe my deepest apologies for my timing group's mishap during this year's 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run. We had an equipment failure at the worst possible time, and despite our best efforts, we were not able to provide the timing and results that you all deserved for your event.
I am fully responsible for the mishap. The race directors, staff and volunteers for Grand Island Public Schools did a remarkable job getting ready and providing a fantastic environment for your annual event. Congratulations on a record number of participants and your commitment to good health and community spirit!
I am deeply sorry that I was not able to follow through on my job to provide the service you deserved for your event.
