Grand Island Public Schools has an ongoing need for Special Education Paraeducator Substitutes, Nutrition Services Substitutes, Custodian Substitutes and Nurse Substitutes.     


Information Technology Technician

Westridge Middle School

8 hours per day/12 month position

GIPS is seeking a customer service oriented full time Information Technology Technician to provide exceptional customer service and technical expertise to district staff through on-site visits, inbound calls, or other electronic input such as Website, CHAT or email for the purpose of resolving issues with devices such as laptops, tablets, smart phones, and other consumer electronics.

Using various systems, applications and tools, the technician will facilitate device setup, education, troubleshooting, and repair if a service or feature is inoperable.

The ideal candidate will have experience on multiple platforms, including Mac/PC, and be proficient at analyzing, diagnosing, and resolving problems on hardware, software, OS, applications and device compatibility.

Completion of an Associate’s Degree in technology related field and at least two years experience providing technical support is expected.

Preferred certifications include: CompTIA A+, MSFT Certification: MCSDT/MCITP, CCNP.

Starting salary begins at $16.53 per hour after training. (Additional consideration may be given for education and experience beyond the minimum stated above.)

Administrative Secretary-Federal Programs

Kneale Administration Building

8 hours per day (7:30 am-4:30 pm)/12 month position

Provides a wide variety of complex and confidential administrative and secretarial support

 to the Federal Programs.

 Bilingual speaking and writing skills desired.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google, including spreadsheets.

Strong oral, written communication and organizational skills needed.

District paid health and dental insurance.

The wage is $13.28 per hour after the training period.

Assistant Custodian

Seedling Mile Elementary

4 hours per day (3:00 pm-7:00 pm)/12 month position

Previous custodial experience preferred.

The wage is $12.36 per hour after the training period.

Skills Academy Paraprofessionals

Dodge Elementary & Westridge Middle School

7.5 hours per day/9 month positions

The Skills Academy program is designed to provide support and instruction for students with Emotional/Behavior Disorders with the goal of reintegrating the student back into the general education setting.

Associates Degree is preferred.

A High School diploma or GED is required, as well as experience working with students having disabilities.

Wage will be $13.87 per hour after training period.

Nutrition Services Assistant

Walnut Middle School

3.5 hours per day (10:30 am-2:00 pm)/9 month position

Duties include: Assisting in food prep and general kitchen duties.

Must provide excellent customer service.

Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

The wage is $10.59 per hour after the training period.

Position open until filled.  


Preschool Paraeducator

Early Learning Center

8 hours per day (7:30 am-4:00 pm)/9 month position

CDA/Child Development Certification or Associates Degree is preferred as well as experience working with young children.

A high school diploma is required.

Wage after training is $11.49 per hour.

Bilingual Paraeducator

Walnut Middle School

7.5 hours per day/9 month position

Must have bilingual experience and be able to accurately translate verbal and written communications for students and parents.

A high school diploma or GED is required.

The wage is $12.30 per hour after the training period.

Bilingual Paraeducator/Lunchroom Monitor

Barr Middle School

8 hours per day/9 month position

To assist with instructional support as needed and supervise student in the lunchroom and/or the playground.

A high school diploma or GED is required.

Must have bilingual experience and be able to accurately translate verbal and written communications for students and parents.

The wage is $12.30 per hour after the training period.

Intermediate Support Program Paraprofessional

Walnut Middle School

7.5 hours per day/9 month position

This program focuses on intense social and emotional learning.

Experience working with individuals with social and emotional needs is preferred.

 Associates degree is preferred.

Wage after training is $13.87 per hour.

Responsibilities include processing meals and payments using department software, preparing deposits, providing excellent customer service, assisting with prep and clean-up in the kitchen.

Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Computer experience required.

The wage is $10.59 per hour after the training period.

Engleman Elementary

4.25  hours per day/Split Shift

Breakfast (7:15 am-8:15 am) & Lunch (10:15 am-1:30 pm)/9 month position

Responsibilities include processing meals and payments using department software, preparing deposits, providing excellent customer service, assisting with prep and clean-up in the kitchen.

Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Computer experience required.

The wage is $10.59 per hour after the training period.

Temporary Yard/Maintenance Workers

Kneale Administration Building

8 hours per day (7:00 am-3:30 pm) starting immediately through approximately Mid-October.

Experience operating zero turn mowers or commercial riding mowers is preferred.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Wage is $12.62 per hour.

Assistant Custodian

Engleman Elementary 

4 hours per day (2:00 pm-6:00 pm)/12 month position

Previous custodial experience preferred.

The wage is $12.02 per hour after the training period.

Crossing Guard & Substitutes

Newell Elementary 

Duties: Assist students before and after school with street crossing.

Times: From approx. 7:15 am until school starts and from school dismissal until the majority of the children have left the school grounds (approx. 40 minutes).

Wage is $22.50 per day.

7.5 hours per day/9 month positions

A Deaf Interpreter Certificate is required and experience working with students having a variety of disabilities is preferred.

An Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) of 4.0 or greater is preferred.

Wage is contingent on level of EIPA.
