Grand Island Public Schools has an ongoing need for Special Education Paraeducator Substitutes, Nutrition Services Substitutes, Custodian Substitutes and Nurse Substitutes.

Head Custodian 

Wyandotte Center

8 hours per day (6:30 am-3:00 pm)/ 12 month position

Experience in all facets of custodial work, minor maintenance and grounds care is preferred.

Effective written and oral communication skills needed.

Record keeping/computer capabilities.

Visual acuity in judging work needed and completed. 

District paid health and dental insurance.

Wage is $13.26 per hour after training period, if new employee.

Position closes 4:30 pm April 29, 2019.


Attendance Secretary/Classroom Paraeducator

Dodge Elementary

4 hours per day/10 month position for secretary

4 hours per day/9 month position for classroom paraeducator

Previous clerical experience is desired, including computer and telephone skills.

Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and have skills in organization, decision-making and human relations.

Assist teachers with instructional support.

High school diploma or GED is required.

Wage after training for the secretary position is $11.62 per hour and $10.59 per hour for the classroom paraeducator position.

Bilingual Paraeducator/Lunchroom Monitor

Starr Elementary

8 hours per day/9 month position

To assist with instructional support as needed and supervise students in the lunchroom and/or on the playground.

A high school diploma or GED is required.

Must have bilingual experience and be able to accurately translate verbal and written communications for students and parents.

The wage is $12.10 per hour after the training period.

Position closes 4:30 pm April 22, 2019.


Classroom Paraeducator

West Lawn Elementary

7.5 hours per day/9 month position

Assist teachers with instructional support as needed.

A high school diploma or GED required.

Wage after training is $10.59 per hour.

Position closes 4:30 pm April 22, 2019.


Study Hall Supervisor

Grand Island Senior High

7.5 hours per day/9 month position

Supervise students in a study hall setting, assist with homework as necessary.

Experience working in an educational setting is preferred, and a NE teaching certificate is desired but not required.

Must be able to build and maintain positive relationships with students.

Wage is $12.84 per hour after the training period.

Technology Assistant

Howard Elementary

8 hours per day/10 month position for the 2019-20 school year

Assist teachers and students in the use of the library/media center and its materials and equipment.

Effective written and oral communication as well as human relations skills.

Typing and computer skills needed.

Wage is $11.69 per hour after the training period.

Position closes 4:30 pm April 22, 2019. 


Certified Interpreter for the Deaf Substitute

A Deaf Interpreter Certificate is required and experience working with students having a variety of disabilities is preferred.

High school diploma is required.

An Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) or 4.0 or greater is also preferred.

Wage is contingent on level of EIPA.

Homebound Tutors

(Flexible Hours)

Will work with students K-12 in home or in school buildings.

A Nebraska teaching certificate is required. 

The wage is $18.54 per hour plus mileage.
