4 hours per day/10 month position

Previous clerical experience is desired.

Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and have skills in organization, decision-making and human relations.

Wage after training is $11.82 per hour.

Custodian-Night Supervisor

Grand Island Senior High School

8 hours per day (3:00 pm-11:00 pm)/12 month position

Experience in all facets of custodial work, minor maintenance and grounds care is desired.

Knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems would be helpful.

Needs effective written and oral communication skills.

Must have visual acuity in judging work needed and completed.

District paid health and dental insurance.

Wage is $12.64 per hour (includes .34 shift differential for evening shift) after the training period.

Assistant Custodian

Walnut Middle School

8 hours per day (10:00 am-6:00 pm)/12 month position

Previous custodial experience is preferred.

7.5 hours per day/9 month position

Supervise students in a study hall setting, assist with homework as necessary.

Experience working in an educational setting is preferred, and a NE teaching certificate is desired but not required.

Must be able to build and maintain positive relationships with students.

Wage is $13.04 per hour after the training period.

Duties: Assist students before and after school with street crossings.

The Skills Academy program is designed to provide support & instruction for students with Emotional/Behavior Disorders with the goal of reintegrating the student back into the general education setting.

An associate’s degree is preferred.

Family Liaison (Arabic/Somali)

Kneale Administration Building

8 hours per day/12 month position

The Family Liaison provides vital support services and interpretation in Arabic and/or Somali for students and families.

This position serves as a liaison between students, parents, schools, and community agencies to address educational and social-emotional needs of immigrant and refugee students and families.

Must have strong communication skills in English, Arabic and/or Somali and be able to accurately translate verbal and written communications for the district and schools as well as for staff, students and parents.

Computer skills are required.

Must be willing to participate in home visits.

The position requires flexible scheduling to work outside of school hours, when necessary.

District paid health and dental insurance.

The wage is $12.65 per hour after the training period.

Migrant Community Liaison

Kneale Administration Building

8 hours per day/12 month position*

The Migrant Community Liaison provides support services and educational experiences for migrant-qualified children and families addressing their special educational needs to succeed academically.

The liaison will be responsible for the service delivery strategies outlined by the GIPS Migrant Education Program in the areas of school readiness, services to Out-of-School Youth (OSY), and parent/family engagement.

High School Diploma, with preference given to individuals with bachelor’s degree in Education or Social Work.

Fluent Bilingualism: English and (Spanish, Arabic or Nuer)

*Requires flexible scheduling to work evenings or weekends as necessary.

The School Family Liaison provides opportunities for students (approximately 300) and families of the onsite and virtual school to collaborate with each other, businesses, organizations and other community agencies in a way that positively supports student success, engages families, builds relationships and fosters school-community partnerships.

8 hours (5:00 am-1:00 pm)/9 month position

Prepare breakfast, serve and clean up at Howard Elementary; transition to OLC to prepare lunch for students, clean up after meals.
