Grand Island Public Schools has an ongoing need for Special Education Paraeducator Substitutes, Nutrition Services Substitutes, Custodian Substitutes and Nurse Substitutes.   


Assistant Custodian

Engleman Elementary

4 hours per day (2:00 pm-6:00 pm)/12 month position

Previous custodial experience preferred.

The wage is $12.02 per hour after the training period.

Skills Academy Paraprofessional

Dodge Elementary

7.5 hours per day/9 month position

The Skills Academy program is designed to provide support and instruction for students with Emotional/Behavior Disorders with the goal of reintegrating the student back into the general education setting.

Associates Degree is preferred.

A High School diploma or GED is required, as well as experience working with students having disabilities.

Wage will be $13.87 per hour after training period.

Position closes 4:30 pm September 28, 2020.


Assistant Custodian

Walnut Middle School

8 hours per day (3:00 pm-11:00 pm)/12 month position

Previous custodial experience is preferred.

District paid health and dental insurance.

Wage is $12.36 per hour after the training period, includes .34 shift differential for evening shift.

Position closes 4:30 pm September 21, 2020. 


Secretary/Receptionist

Kneale Administration Building

This position may be offered as either one full time 8 hours per day, or by two part time (AM and PM) positions/12 month position


The receptionist creates a warm and welcoming environment to visitors and district staff as they enter the Kneale Administration building, while enforcing district safety protocols and providing accurate directions to appropriate department/person.

The receptionist also answers incoming telephone calls, promptly and politely routing calls to the appropriate dept/person.

The receptionist may also provide clerical support to the  business office or another department as requested or to assist with special projects.

Wage is $12.65 per hour after the training period

Position closes 4:30 pm September 21, 2020. 


Bilingual Preschool Paraeducator

Early Learning Center

8 hours per day (7:30 am-4:00 pm)/9 month position

CDA/Child Development Certification or Associates Degree is preferred as well as experience working with young children.

This is a Bilingual (Spanish/English) position.

The wage is $12.30 per hour after training period.

Position closes 4:30 pm September 18, 2020. 


Bilingual Paraeducator/Classroom Paraeducator/Lunchroom Monitor

Jefferson Elementary

3.5 hours per day/9 month position as Bilingual Paraeducator

4.5 hours per day/9 month position as Classroom Paraeducator/Lunchroom Monitor

To assist with instructional support as needed.

A high school diploma or GED is required.

Must have bilingual experience and be able to accurately translate verbal and written communications for students and parents.

Computer skills are preferred.

The wage is $12.30 per hour for bilingual para-educator position and $10.79 per hour for classroom para-educator and lunchroom monitor after training period.

Various grade levels & schools.

7.5 hours per day/9 month positions

Experience working with students having disabilities is desired.

An associate’s degree is preferred.

A high school diploma or GED is required.

Wage after training is $13.04 per hour.

Classroom Paraeducators

Various Elementary/Middle Schools 

Both full-time and part-time/9 month positions

Assist teachers with instructional support as needed.

An Associates degree is preferred.

A high school diploma or GED required.

Wage after training is $10.79 per hour.

Crossing Guard

Westridge Middle School

Duties: Assist students before and after school with street crossing.

Times: From approx. 7:15 am until school starts and from school dismissal until the majority of the children have left the school grounds (approx. 40 minutes).

Wage would be $22.50 per day.

Position open until filled.

Head Server at Gates Elementary

6.25 hours per day (6:45 am-1:00 pm)/9 month position

Server at Engleman Elementary

3.75  hours per day (9:30 am-1:15 pm)/9 month position 

Head Server at Seedling Mile Elementary

6.5 hours per day (6:30 am -1:00 pm)/9 month position

NS Assistant at Barr Middle School

3 hours per day (10:45 am-1:45 pm)/9 month position

 

Wage for Head Server is $10.59 per hour after training. 

Wage for Server is $10.26 per hour after training.

Wage for NS Assistant is $10.59 per hour after training.

Certified Interpreter for the Deaf

 Schools To Be Determined

7.5 hours per day/9 month positions

A Deaf Interpreter Certificate is required and experience working with students having a variety of disabilities is preferred.

High school diploma is required.

An Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) of 4.0 or greater is preferred.

Wage is contingent on level of EIPA.

Position open until filled.


LPN-School Nurse

Seedling Mile Elementary

7.5 hours per day/9 month position

A LPN License is required.

Experience working in a classroom setting, as well as with students having developmental delays is preferred.

Starting salary after training is $18.89 per hour or more depending on experience.

Position open until filled.   


Certified Interpreter for the Deaf Substitute

A Deaf Interpreter Certificate is required and experience working with students having a variety of disabilities is preferred.

High school diploma is required.

An Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) or 4.0 or greater is also preferred.

Wage is contingent on level of EIPA.

Position open until filled.


Homebound Tutors

(Flexible Hours)

Will work with students K-12 in home or in school buildings.

A Nebraska teaching certificate is required. 

The wage is $18.79 per hour plus mileage.
