Accessibility Statement

Grand Island Public Schools is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all persons, including people with disabilities and to meeting or exceeding the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. The GIPS website seeks to comply with Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act and the best practices and standards as set forth in level AA of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1.

With that said, we are continually improving the user experience for everyone, and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

 

Conformance Status:

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. At this time, Grand Island Public Schools is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA.

 

Disclaimer:

Grand Island Public Schools continually reviews and seeks to improve the accessibility of its websites to all persons.  Despite these ongoing efforts, there may be some pages or content that may not yet be fully compliant with the strictest accessibility standards.  Any person who experiences difficulty with a website should promptly contact GIPS to report the issue. 

Grand Island Public Schools is actively working to improve accessibility through ongoing efforts such as periodic website reviews, staff training, and collaboration with vendors to enhance accessibility. 

Grand Island Public Schools operates numerous websites that may link or integrate with third-party platforms or websites, such as Google, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.  Grand Island Public Schools has no control over any third-party platform or website and is not responsible for any content posted on a third-party platform or website.  Further, Grand Island Public Schools cannot guarantee the accessibility compliance of any third-party platform or website.

Similarly, Grand Island Public Schools cannot guarantee the accessibility of content delivered by purchased or contracted services such as Synergy or MySchoolBucks. We will continue to work with our solution providers to encourage them to improve the accessibility of their products in future updates. 

If you experience difficulty accessing any content on a Grand Island Public Schools website, or if you require content in an alternative format, please contact us.  The District will make reasonable efforts to provide their information in an accessible format in a timely manner.
