Classroom Experience

“At GISH, I get a chance to know my teachers. Our classes typically have about 20 to 25 kids. My honors, AP and dual-credit classes are preparing me for college. I am able to talk to my teachers about areas I am interested in exploring. While in high school I earned my CNA (certified nurses assistant). The experience my teachers and classes provide has given me advantages as I prepare for college.”
Jada Jensen, Class of 2019, Member of HOSA, National Honor Society and soccer

FOUR WALLS. A TEACHER. 25 STUDENTS.

Perhaps you've heard Grand Island Senior High is "big."

This is true. With 2,600 students, GISH is a big school. And with that size comes great opportunities for activities, involvement, athletics and finding students with similar interests.

In the classroom, it means ... not much. Other than the fact being so big allows GISH to offer more class options, more Advanced Placement and Honors classes, more interest-based electives and more ... well, more experiences.

Students at Grand Island Senior HIgh experience all this in classrooms with four walls, around 25 students and a highly-qualified and dedicated teacher.

Pathway classes take students to new experiences, from an in-house flight simulator or an in-house ambulance simulator, to the construction of an actual house or an actual classroom of students to learn about teaching.

It's all about experiences.
