7414 - Summer School


The Grand Island Public Schools may sponsor before/after school and summer school programs, also known as Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO’s), providing opportunity for basic instruction, enrichment, special education, credit advancement, and credit recovery. It shall be the responsibility of the superintendent or designee to develop administrative regulations regarding this policy.

The expanded learning opportunities curriculum shall be established to meet the needs of students. Instruction at elementary and middle level, and credit advancement and credit recovery at the high school level, shall provide an opportunity for students to improve and/or acquire credit in areas and subjects where previous work has not met achievement or credit standards. Courses provided for the purpose of permitting high school students to participate in credit advancement courses shall meet the credit/instruction requirements for courses established by the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges.
