GISH FBLA to compete at Nationals in Chicago


The Islanders will be competing on the national stage this summer, showcasing their unique skills and talents.

In April, Grand Island Senior High FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) members competed in Kearney at the State Leadership Conference, where they qualified for the FBLA National Leadership Conference. The national conference will be held in Chicago June 28 through July 3, 2022.

 The Islanders who will be competing in Chicago are:

  • Destiny Lucero; 3D Animation
  • Connor McDonald; Network Infrastructure
  • Jack Voss, Cameron Carlson & Anthony Ramirez; Network Design

The Islander staff sponsors are Scott Fox and Jessica Whitmire.

"Our FBLA group represented GISH well at the State Leadership Conference. Everyone gave a great effort and competed in all their events. It was great to see so many kids get on stage and qualify for the National Conference in Chicago this summer," Fox said.


The Islanders’ full State Leadership Conference results are as follows:

  • 2nd place: Destiny Lucero; 3D Animation
  • 1st place: Cameron Carlson, Jack Voss; Computer Game and Simulation Programming
  • 7th place: Team I (Anthony Ramirez, Juan Garcia, Connor McDonald) Management Info Systems Performance
  • Semi-finalist: Elaine Abrajan Gutierrez; Public Speaking
  • Honorable Mention: Anthony Ramirez; Computer Problem Solving
  • 5th place: Cameron Carlson; Computer Problem Solving
  • 6th place: Jack Voss; Computer Problem Solving
  • 1st place: Team 1 - Anthony Ramirez, Cameron Carlson, Jack Voss; Network Design Performance
  • 3rd place: Cameron Carlson; Cyber Security
  • 4th place: Jack Voss; Cyber Security
  • 4th Place: Cameron Carlson; Networking Infrastructure
  • 3rd place: Jack Voss; Networking Infrastructure
  • Honorable Mention: Connor McDonald; Networking Infrastructure
