STUFF THE BUS for local students

The annual STUFF THE BUS events are fast approaching as we prepare for the 2021-2022 school year.

The STUFF THE BUS program is designed to help homeless and less fortunate children in Hall County have the opportunity to acquire the school supplies they need, but aren’t necessarily able to afford. Last year more than 1,000 backpacks with supplies were donated to local children.

Please consider helping to STUFF THE BUS and donate school supply items. Buses furnished by Grand Island Public Schools will be parked at the Grand Island North and South Walmart stores from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for donations on the following dates:

  • June 18-19
  • June 25-26

The most needed school supplies for STUFF THE BUS are:

  • 17-inch backpacks
  • Loose leaf college ruled paper
  • Single subject notebooks
  • 1-inch binders
  • Pencil boxes
  • Crayons and colored pencils
  • Pink erasers
  • Scissors

The goal this year is to give out at least 1,000 backpacks to students in need in Hall County.

Proceeds are used by the Salvation Army, the Crisis Center, Hope Harbor, Head Start, GIPS Families in Transition, and other area organizations.
