GIPS, CDHD team up to provide COVID-19 vaccine to GISH students, GIPS family members

More than 150 Grand Island Senior High School students and 90 family members of Grand Island Public Schools students received the COVID-19 vaccine this week.

GIPS collaborated with the Central District Health Department to create vaccination clinics in the GISH West Gym.

“This is a fantastic turnout and we’re incredibly proud of our students who received the vaccine this week,” said GIPS Superintendent Dr. Tawana Grover. “We look forward to providing more vaccination opportunities for our students and GIPS families. It takes all of us to get through this pandemic.”

All students who were at least 16 years old could receive the vaccine. Students under the age of 19 required parental consent.

GIPS provided two separate vaccination clinics for family members of students in the district. More than 90 family members received the vaccine during those clinics, which were held on Thursday and Friday.
