Three GISH students’ art accepted into National K12 Ceramic Exhibition; Guerrero honored with Aardvark Teaching Award

Three students at Grand Island Senior High had their art displayed at the National K12 Ceramic Exhibition on March 19.

Alex Guerrero, Cole Trapp and Rogelio Ruiz all had pieces selected for the show, which is a big honor. Alex’s piece is “Court Jester”, Cole’s piece is “A Slow Journey”, and Rogelio’s piece is called “Cathedral Vessel.”

There were a total of 668 entries, with 611 of those being high school student entries.

Alex’s ceramic piece, “Court Jester” stood out and was selected for further distinction with the Aardvark Teaching Award. The award is presented to a ceramics teacher by Rick MacPherson of Aardvark Clay and Supply to foster quality ceramics education in the K-12 setting. Because of Alex's outstanding work, Mr. Jerome Dubas will be able to choose $250 worth of supplies from Aardvark Clay and Supply for the school.

Congratulations to Alex, Cole, and Rogelio!
