GIPS to provide meals to students Nov. 23-27


Grand Island Public Schools Nutrition Services will provide free meals to students November 23 through November 27 (Thanksgiving week). 


Families and students can request meals via a pre-order form. Parents should fill out a separate form for each student they are requesting meals. Meals will consist of five breakfast meal kits, five lunch meal kits and five days worth of milk. 


The meals will be distributed at the students’ main campus. 


Please see below for more specific details for each level:


Preschool

Meals will be distributed to preschool students during student pick up (AM students) or drop off (PM students) on Thursday, November 19. Families will hear directly from Amy Richards, Early Childhood coordinator, for more information.

 

Elementary

Meal order forms will be sent home with students on Friday, November 13. Order forms need to be returned to your student’s school on Monday, November 16. 


Pre-ordered meals will be distributed to elementary students at the end of the school day on Friday, November 20. 

 

Middle School

Online meal order forms for middle school students need to be completed by Tuesday, November 17 at 3 p.m. Each middle school has a separate online order form, found at these links: Barr, Walnut, Westridge


Meals will be distributed to middle school students at the end of the school day on Friday, November 20.


Grand Island Senior High

If interested in meals, Senior High students will fill out an online order form on Monday, November 16 at school with assistance from Senior High staff. 


Meals will be distributed to Senior High students as they leave school on Friday, November 20. 


Virtual School Families

eLearners who are already signed up for meals will continue to receive meals.  


All breakfast and lunch meals for Nov. 16-20 and Nov. 23-27 will be distributed at the normal time and place on Monday, November 16. These bags are already made and eLearner parents have been informed about this.


There will be no food distribution the week of Thanksgiving.
