Islanders heading to Class A Football Championship game

With a win Friday night in the bitter cold weather at Bellevue West, Grand Island Senior High's football team moved on to the Class A Nebraska State Championship Game. This marks the Islanders' first trip to the championship game since 1990.

The game is at Lincoln's Memorial Stadium on Monday, Nov. 19, at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults. (See ticket info below.)

"We want all of Grand Island to come to Lincoln and turn their Memorial Stadium into our Memorial Stadium," said GIPS Superintendent Dr. Tawana Grover. "We are so excited for our student athletes, managers, trainers, coaches and staff to be able to have this Class A championship experience."

Grand Island Senior High will be the home team, will sit on the east side of the stadium and wear our purple jerseys.

There will be a spirit bus for students to travel for free to the game. Information on sign up coming soon from the GISH Activities Office. The GISH Marching Band will also be travelling to the game to root on the Islanders.
