GI Invite

Date:  Thursday, September 23, 2010  (entries due Monday, Sept. 20 by 5PM). Email HIGH SCHOOL entries to kpfeffer@gips.org.  Please list ALL of your athletes.  You can choose varsity runner’s at the meet; they do not have to be declared when entries are sent in. MIDDLE SCHOOL runners will sign up at the meet.

 

Entry Fee:  $50.00 per girls team and $50.00 per boys team; Middle School entry fee will be $10 per team, or $2 per runner, if less than 5 members. Please send fees to Grand Island Senior High Activities Office.
Location:  INDIANHEAD GOLF COURSE
Take 281 exit north to Hwy 28/34 stoplight.  Turn left on Husker Hwy and travel 1 and 1/2 miles west.  Entrance to the course will be on the right.

Parking:  Team and spectator parking is available on south side of the course.

Divisions/Times:

            Girls JV at 4:00 p.m.
            Boys JV at 4:00 p.m.
            Girls Varsity at 4:30 p.m.
            Boys Varsity at 5:00 p.m.
            Middle School race to follow

Scoring:  NSAA rules apply

Awards:  Medals to top 15 individuals in varsity races/Team champ medals
            Medals to top 10 individuals in JV races
            Ribbons for top 10 boys and girls

Distance: 5000 meters for boys
              4000 meter for girls and middle school

 

Teams invited:   Hastings, Columbus, GI Senior High, Kearney, Lincoln East, Millard North and North Platte.  If you would like to participate in this meet, contact Activities Director at jkutlas@gips.org or 308-385-5950.

 

Results:  Results will be available following the presentation of awards and will be online at this website

Facilities:  Dressing rooms and showers available at Senior High.  Restrooms will be available at the course.  (Please have athletes use the porta pots located near start and finish lines.)

Middle School:  There will be a 4000M run for Middle School boys and girls (combined race).  Entry fee will be $10 per team, or $2 per runner, if less than 5 members.

PACKET INSTRUCTIONS FOR COACHES

…Have your runners attach enclosed tag with their name on it to the back left shoulder area of their jersey. Make sure the pin has been put through the proper place on the tag.

…Remind your runners not to leave the chute until someone has taken their tag and they received a numbered card. 

…The cards are a back-up.  Please write the athletes name on the card and place it in the envelope.  For the varsity race, please fill out the front of the envelope as well.  This provides us with a quick double-check.  Take the envelopes to the scoring table.

…Please ask your athletes to stay away from the scoring area until all results have been posted.  Congestion at the scoreboard will slow down results.

…Awards will be presented shortly after the completion of the boys’ varsity race.  There are medals to the top 15 varsity runners and the top 10 in each JV  race.  There are also medals for the member of the winning team of each varsity race. 

…Full results will be available after the awards presentation and online at this website.

…There will be course judges out on the course at the turns.  Runners will be disqualified for cutting.

…Boys JV and Girls JV will run at the same time.

…Please instruct your athletes to use the porta-pots found outside near the finish line. 

…For 6th, 7th, and 8th grade race you will have to copy your own results.
