GRAND ISLAND —
The Old West has met the latest in modern technology this summer, courtesy of the Barr STARS.

Barr Middle School counselor Kirk Ramsey said 35 to 40 students have voluntarily been coming to the school each morning to work on reading, math and writing.

This year, history has been added to the academic mix, courtesy of Barr social studies teacher Jason Weaver.

Technology also has been a big part of this summer's activities, with students using cameras embedded in their Mac laptops to film themselves reading prepared scripts about historical figures and historic places connected with western Nebraska and the Black Hills of South Dakota.  Full Story
