Parents and students are asked to bring the completed registration packets they received in the mail. Grand Island Senior High School will open the 2009-2010 school year on Wednesday, Aug. 19, for ninth-graders and Thursday, Aug. 20, for students in 10th grade through 12th grade.
By state regulations, all students are required to have appropriate immunizations or have a medical or religious waiver on file with the school prior to the start of school.
Student photographs will be taken at registration for student identification cards and the yearbook. Please dress appropriately.
The cost for a 2009-2010 student activity ticket is $40 per student. The fee allows for participation in Senior High School student activities, sports, or organizations and also provides the student an admission ticket to all home Senior High School student contests and competitions. Dances are considered a student activity and will require a student activity ticket for admission. Admission charges may also apply to school-sponsored dances. This activity ticket does not include admission to NSAA-sanctioned district and state competitions.
Registration dates are:
* Senior registration: 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4.
*Junior registration: 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4.
*Sophomore registration: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, with open registration from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 5.
* Freshmen registration: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, with open registration from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 6.
* Open registration for any student: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5; and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6.
Students new to Grand Island in grades 9-12 should call 385-5574 to make an appointment to register.
New students must bring a transcript and health records from their previous school. Without these records, new students will not be able to register. Call the Grand Island Senior High School Counseling Office to set up an appointment, 385-5574. Registration for new students will be in the Counseling Office.
