Grand Island Public Schools are dedicated to Every Student, Every Day, a Success.
When we say "Every Student" we mean each and every student we are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to teach in our schools and programs.
Birth to 5
For some children, our GIPS preschool classes at the Early Learning Center are the first step on the educational path.
We have many students who come to us at different stages of their educational path, from many places. When families move to our district, they are referred to the Welcome Center. From there it will determined if they are ready to join a traditional classroom, enter our English Language Learners program or start off in one of our Newcomers classrooms.
For some students, transportation to and from school is a concern. We offer some limited busing services to meet those needs.
We also recognize we have students across the spectrum of learning and at different developmental stages.
We have special education programs, with highly trained and dedicated staff to provide each student with the needed resources to succeed.
For students with severe disabilities we offer Community Based Instruction and our Transitional Learning Program, potentially helping our students until age 21.
For students who have behavior problems in high school we offer services with Ombudsman to continue working toward a diploma.
We also have the Outreach Center, Health Services, Teammates mentoring program, school social workers, councelors and many other programs and services to meet the needs of all of our students and families.
At Grand Island Public Schools, our quality staff is constantly undergoing professional development to extend their abilities to reach and teach all students and offer the best possible education. We take pride in the opportunities and connections we give the families of Grand Island.
