  • Receive Technical assistance to implement SIP
  • Students are offered public school choice
  • Publication of actions
  • Notice to the public

Needs Improvement Year 2

Failed to make AYP for 3 years

  • Notice to Parents/Guardians
  • Revise School Improvement Plan
  • Receive Technical assistance to implement SIP –analyze data
  • Offer public school choice
  • Offer Supplemental Education Services (SES)
  • Publication of actions

Needs Improvement Year 3

Failed to make AYP for 4 years (1 yr. to plan for the change)

  • Develop and submit a Corrective Action Plan
  • Take at least one of the following actions:
    • Replace school staff relevant to failure
    • Institute a new curriculum with PD
    • Decrease management authority at school level
    • Extend the school year or school day
    • Restructure the internal organizational structure
  • Offer SES Services
  • Publication of actions
  • Public school choice

Needs Improvement Year 4 Corrective Action

Failed to make AYP for 5 years

  • Continue to implement corrective action activities
  • Create a Restructuring plan which includes one of the following options
    • Replace all or most of the school staff relevant to failure
    • Enter in contract with an entity such as a private company
    • Charter school conversion, other
    • State Takeover

Needs Improvement Year 5 Restructuring

Failed to make AYP for 6 years
Implement restructuring plan

  • Notification of parents/guardians
  • Ensure school receives technical assistance
  • Public school choice
  • Offer SES services
  • Publication of actions
