Haley Pendulum In the Variables unit we teach a section on pendulums and how by changing the variable of length we can change the rate of swing of the pendulum.  The longer the length of the pendulum the slower it swings.  Students have learned that the mass  of the pendulum has no effect on the rate of swing, neither does the material used in the pendulum shaft. The drawings were attempts by the students to illustrate this effect.  Although many of the drawings were a bit hard to recognize as pendulums, others were very effective in showing how the pendulum effect affects our daily lives.
