Student Council News

Another year is coming to a close in Student Council and what a successful year it has been!  The last fundraiser we did was the Skittles Jar Contest which raised $120.  Congratulations to Kori Eckel, a fifth grader in Mr. Chadek’s class for winning all 1,479 Skittles.  She was only off by 7 with a guess of 1,472!  A total of over $1,200 was raised this year by Student Council.  The members voted to split this money between new playground equipment, new books and Reading Counts tests for the library and a new rug for inside the main doors.  Be looking for this next year.  Thank you to all Newell students and families for supporting Student Council by coming to the candy sales, buying pencils in the library and participating in the guessing jar contests.  All of the officers and members of Student Council did a wonderful job this year being leaders of Newell and helping our school and community to be a better place.
