Newell Rocks to a Drug Free Beat

During the month of October, Newell students will be joining the Nation in a campaign against alcohol and other drug use and abuse.  This is a special time planned to encourage children to make smart choices and say “NO” to drugs and “YES” to a bright and healthy future.  Red Ribbon Week is October 27th -31st.  Throughout that week, Newell will have some special activities planned.

Red Ribbon Week was inspired by the life and work of Drug Enforcement Officer Enrique Camarena.  After his tragic murder by drug traffickers in 1986, his loved ones began wearing red ribbons to honor Enrique and to continue educating others about the negative effects of drugs.
