November

This month promises to be action packed with all the activities on the calendar.  Hopefully your family can celebrate the beauty of fall in Nebraska by having quality time spent together indoors or outdoors.

Daylight Savings Time Ends - Remember the helpful hint of “fall back” when you go to bed on Sat., Nov. 1st.  Turn those clocks back one hour and enjoy the extra sleep.

Election Day - Americans will be going to the polls on Tues., Nov. 4th to elect our next President/Vice President.  Please exercise your freedom to vote on this historical occasion.

No School - Students do not have school on Thursday, Nov. 6th or Friday, Nov. 7th as teachers will be involved with professional development on both days.

Veterans Day - America will be honoring our Veterans on Tuesday, November 11.  Please visit with children about the importance of paying tribute to all men and women who gave everything so we can enjoy all the freedoms in our country.

Nurse Notes - Flu season is right around the corner. The flu is caused by a virus and can be spread from person to person through coughing and sneezing.  Symptoms can include fever, headache, muscle aches, fatigue, vomiting and diarrhea.
The best way to prevent the flu is by getting the flu vaccine each year.  Be sure to talk with your kids about washing their hands frequently with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds and covering mouth/nose when coughing or sneezing.  Avoid sharing drinks or silverware and properly disinfect all touched surfaces in your home.
Please notify our office if your child is home with the flu and remember that all medications coming to school must be in original containers.  Please call school nurse, Carolyn Lutz at 385-5924 if you have any questions as she continues to work with keeping your children healthy.

Cold Weather - Help us by sending children properly dressed for recess weather as the temps. start to fall.  We do send kids outside if the temperature is 20 or above and the windchill isn’t below zero.  Children do need proper coats, gloves/mittens and head protection to avoid being miserable outside on colder days.

Parent Meeting - Our social worker, Mrs. Schultz, wanted to announce that the next meeting will be Friday, Nov. 21 at 8:00 AM.  Sandra Barrera from the Extension Office will be talking about healthy snacks that are easy to make.

Enjoy Thanksgiving vacation from November 27th through the 30th.
