Rationale and Supporting Data
The Jefferson Elementary School staff has focused on improving skills for the past several years. With the adoption of Math Curriculum Trailblazers in 2003, there has been more focus on students’ abilities to communicate a variety of strategies in solving problems.
Additional emphasis is being placed on increasing math computation. Parents have the opportunity to play a key role as partners with the development of student computation skills.
Improvement Strategies
Develop mathematical fluency and automaticity of basic facts.Establish oral and written mathematical clarity through problem solving strategies.
Increase methods of providing feedback to students while setting clear objectives.
Provide opportunities for parent involvement in math outside the school day.
