Welcome from the Interim Superintendent
Welcome to Grand Island Public Schools. Our website is designed as a one-stop site to provide information about the school district. It also contains links to websites for all schools within the district. The phrase "Every Student, Every Day, a Success" is at the top of Grand Island Public Schools mission statement. Our employees, therefore, focus daily on helping our students enjoy their learning experiences and improve their level of success.
Grand Island Public Schools has a long history of students with high academic achievement. The district offers a wide variety of academic opportunities for our students. For instance, Grand Island Senior High School students can enroll in up to 14 classes where they can earn college credits without leaving the high school campus.
Our students have the opportunity to participate in a full array of activities in academics, athletics, the arts, and clubs. Students use outstanding facilities and state-of-the-art technology for their learning and activities. A planetarium, several modern auditoriums, large gymnasiums, and Memorial Stadium with its new track and new artificial turf field are utilized as well as excellent regular and special use classrooms in all schools.
Special needs students are educated in our schools through the Central Nebraska Support Service Program (CNSSP), a three-county special education cooperative sponsored by Grand Island Public Schools for students from birth through 21 years of age. The English Language Acquisition Program serves English Language Learners in grades pre-kindergarten through 12. High Ability Learners participate in unique activities and programs at all schools and levels.
Our mission statement concludes with this sentence: "In educating students, we teach hearts as well as minds." We are proud of the "grand" opportunities that Grand Island Public Schools provides. I encourage all students to take advantage of them and enjoy the Grand Island experience.
Expect the Best!
Harrison Cass, Jr., Ph. D.
