GOOD CHARACTER
When a student demonstrates good character, a staff member puts the student’s name in a classroom tub. Then each week, Mrs. Mason and Mrs. Schulte draw a winner’s name, who then receives a prize. Classroom teachers also select a Character Kid of the Week, who receives a special lunchtime with a friend in the music room. We are encouraging Dodge Dragons to show good character.

Calendar Change
Please take note on your family calendars that there has been a change from the original School District calendar. There WILL be school for students on Monday, April 13.

NO SCHOOL
Please take note of the days when there is no school this month: November 6, 7, 28, 29.

DRESSED FOR THE WEATHER

Children need fresh air and exercise, so students will have outdoor recess almost every day. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather and possible weather changes. We go out unless: the temperature is 20 degrees or colder, RealFeel is 20 degrees or less, there is precipitation, or poor playground conditions. Please make sure your child is prepared to be out in the weather.

CONFERENCES

Thank you for attending conferences! 99% of the students’ parents/guardians attended conferences, which was a wonderful turnout. Your support of the school is extremely valuable to your child, and is the greatest predictor of your child’s success in school.

PTO NEWS
Your participation in the Book Fair helped make it the largest sale ever! Classrooms and the media center received many fine books as a result.  Your assistance with the Cookie Dough fundraiser made it possible for the PTO to profit about $10,000 to help provide special opportunities for students.
The PTO also has a BLOG on the Dodge Website. Look it up!  And please get involved with your Dodge Parent Teacher Organization.

PANCAKE FEED
We look forward to seeing you all at the Pancake Feed on November 13 from 5:30-7:00. There will be a raffle for two bicycles that evening.

SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT
The Dodge School Improvement Goals are:
-Improve all students’ reading comprehension
-Improve all students’ understanding of mathematical concepts
-Improve all students’ written communication
We need your help as we all work together to accomplish those goals!

READING TOGETHER
Reading Together is a new program we are starting at Dodge to help students develop their reading skills. Fourth and Fifth grade students will be trained to be tutors.  They will have a lower grade tutee whom they will work with on a regular basis after school.  It should be a fun learning experience for all involved.

Mr. Hansen’s Physical Education News

Parents thank you for participating in the Get Up & Go Challenge.  Your children really appreciate you doing some kind of physical activity with them.  The prizes should further encourage your physical activity together.  Please ask your children about our Dance, Dance, Revolution video games that we are doing in P.E.  This might give you an idea for Christmas if you were thinking of getting them a video game.  This way they can still play games and get exercise.

We will be working on the Presidential Physical Fitness Awards throughout the year so if you want to talk to your children to find out what this is all about please do so.  Thank you for continuing your generosity for “Dodge Dragons Making Change.”  We raised $68 dollars and helped out a Dodge family in need.

The 5th graders have an opportunity to play volleyball after school on Mondays from 3:05-3:40.
