Creating a Web Site with Thumbnail Images using iPhoto
(in 5 minutes or less)
Open iPhoto
Organize desired photos into an album (File/New Album)
Select album (make sure all the images are highlighted)
Go to File and select Export
Select Web Page
Enter a title* (keep it short, without spaces)
Enter the number of columns and rows for the thumbnail photos
Select a color for the page background (if appropriate)
Select a color for the text (if appropriate)
Enter the desired size for the thumbnail images and the expanded images (I use the default)
If you want the title to show, put a check in Show Title
Select Export
Create a new folder for the web pages and images on your desktop
Select OK
Note that a folder has been created which contains the images and one or more html files
Make note of the html file which has the title*.html - this will be the file that needs to be linked on your Photo Gallery page.
Now you are ready to post onto your web page
From the top menu, Go to Connect to Server. Type in 204.234.22.1. Type in your name and password. Locate your building's Project_BuildingName folder and open. Drag the entire new folder over to your school web folder on the Web Server.
Open Camino and log in to MODx. 'Modify' the appropriate page.
Type text that will become your link. (This is what people see and will click on)
You will then need to create a link to your Photo Album. Highlight your text, click on the link (Insert Link) and type in the URL of your photo gallery. It will look something like this:
http://www.gips.org/Projects_School name/folder_name_here/yourprojectname.html
Yours may not look exactly like this. What you are doing is creating a path to yourprojectname.html, so if you have your iPhoto project inside several folders, you need all of those folders listed. Hence, keep titles short and not buried inside several folders.
Post changes and check link
This is the command you would use if you don't want your link to be underlined. Click on the Link Editor, Advanced tab. In the Style box, type text-decoration: none- Kneale Administration Building
