Discuss the real meaning of the phrase, but have students illustrate their “silly” meaning using Appleworks Painting/Drawing.

ONOMATOPOEIAS

Musical

Create a song using GarageBand for one of the scenes in the book (i.e. the interaction between the troll and the billy goats).  The words from the book can be the lyrics for the song.

Bodily/Kinesthetic

Write a script of the story to be used as a Reader's Theater.  It could be performed for another grade (i.e. older buddies), filmed, and posted as a podcast.

Intrapersonal

Pretend that you are either one of the billy goats, one of the Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood, or Jack.  Write an editorial to the paper explaining your feelings of the troll and his requirement of a fee to cross his bridge.  Include your reaction to the ending of the story.

Interpersonal

Pretend you are a news reporter and conduct an interview with the troll after his interaction with the billy goats, The Bears, Little Red Riding Hood, and Jack AND his run-in with the troll.  Make sure you ask questions that get his side of the story and his reaction to all of the events.
