Nothing to Do
Nothing to Do Book Project Possibilities:
Verbal/Linguistic
Using Kidsperation create a personal list of typical responsibilities, chores and commitments
Reflect upon why it could be a good thing to have a day with "nothing to do". Write several statements telling why.
Use Kidsperation to recall the types of things the main character in the story did when he had nothing to do.
Visual/Spatial
Draw a picture identifying the many things in life they would do if they had a day with no responsibilities, no commitments or chores to complete

Naturalist
On the first page of the book, the illustrator made a special notation. She mentioned that there are eight different patterns in nature in the way things grow. Find the eight patterns, draw them and tell what they are and how they are used.
Ask students why the illustrator would use nature's patterns for the way things grow for this book. Review the illustrations and have students write several sentences explaining.
Musical
Looking at all the illustrations in the story, find a picture that reminds you of a song. Explain why you chose that song to go with that specific picture.
Bodily/Kinesthetic
Allow students to choose one hobby that can be taught or shared with the class that involves exploration, creativity or imagination.
Intrapersonal
Looking at all the illustrations, find the ones that the main character of the story is doing things with other people. Use kidsperation to list the things that they are doing. Tell some of the good manners that you have to remember when playing or working with other people.
Interpersonal
Make a list of things that you like to do by yourself. Draw a picture to go with one of them.
