What is an avatar?
An icon (picture) used on the InternetWhat can it resemble?
The avatar can resemble a boy, girl, animal or creature that you createWho can design the avatar?
Any student in grades 3-6What are the requirements?
•The original representation must have a white background
•The representation can be created with any school software such as
Media Blender, AppleWorks, Kidspiration, etc
•The representation needs to include some form of literacy(books) and/or technology
•The original representation cannot exceed 81/2 by 11 inches
What will the avatar be used for?
It will be used throughout the GIPS website and on otherpossible GIPS related items
What will happen to the avatar if it is selected?
After the avatar is selected, it will be turned into an animated product bythe original designer for use on the Internet and other related items
How will the winner be selected?
The Golden Sower students will be allowed to vote from theTop Ten designs to select the top avatar in early November using the
GIPS Golden Sower Site
What do I need to do?
• You need to design your own original avatar using computer software
• The avatar will need to be turned into your Integration Specialistin a digital format by November 3, 2008
