After reading "Chicken Sunday" and "Rechenka's Eggs" by Patricia
Polacco. Our third grade class made Ukrainian Pysanky Eggs. This is a
craft from the Ukraine. This craft has been around for many
generations. We watched a Reading Rainbow Video in which Patricia
Polacco demonstrated how to make these eggs.
Pysanky artists use beeswax, a lighted candle, egg dyes, and a
tool called a kistka to create the eggs. Intricate designs are drawn
on these eggs which are given as Easter gifts.
Check out the steps we went through to complete our eggs.
