TORNADO SAFETY
When there is a tornado sighting in your city or town take cover
right away. Have something to cover you such as old mattresses or a
work bench. Also make sure you have a blanket, flashlight, and a
first aid kit. If you don't have a basement go to a bathroom and get
under strong pipes. If you have a basement stay away from the south
and west walls.
When you are outside and you hear a tornado siren try to get
beneath an overpass. If there is no overpass, take cover in a ditch.
If you're in school and the sirens go off, go to an interior wall
or restroom and assume the tuck-and-duck position near a wall. If you
live in a mobile home and there is a tornado leave them right away.
A tornado watch means that the tornado can happen. A tornado
warning means there has been a tornado spotted.
Don't try to outrun the tornado if you're in you're car. Get to
safety! When you're outside and a tornado is on the ground, tie
yourself to a pole. Always wear shoes because the broken glass could
cut your feet.
Most people who are killed during tornadoes die in mobile homes
and cars.
These are the things you should do in a tornado.
