Our Trip to the Engel Farm to see
Corn Harvesting and Hogs
by
Gates Kindergarten Students
We live in Nebraska. We have been learning about fall. Farmers in
Nebraska harvest their crops in the fall. We went on a field trip to
watch corn being harvested and to see a hog farm. Our class visited
Chris and Lori Engel's farm. When we arrived we climbed onto a hay
rack filled with hay bales to sit on. We rode to the corn field where
they were harvesting corn. Moms and Dads went with us. A hay rack is
a neat way to travel!
During the ride to the field we saw corn fields filled with
brownish yellow stalks of corn waiting to be harvested. We sang songs
about "Mr. Engel had a farm...". It was fun and very cold! We all
remembered to wear warm clothes. In Nebraska it can be very cold in
the fall.
