School days in the 1880's were different than modern school days in many ways but the same in many ways, too. Here are some ways they're different. They had privies outside for restrooms and now we have modern restrooms inside. They had more than one grade in one classroom and they used different supplies. Now we have different ages of students in separate classrooms. We use pencils but they used ink pens. Two ways they're the same are we pretty much have the same subjects and they have rules and we have rules. When they came to school they got checked if they were clean,(if not, they had to clean themselves in a little bucket with cold water), then they prayed, next they did some subjects, after that they had lunch and did more subjects. Then it was time to go home. They had positions like positions 1,2,3, and 4. The positions were for how you stand, sit, and speak to the teacher. It would be very different to be in school in the 1880's. |
