There are differences and similarities between modern schools and 1888 country schools. In the old-fashioned schools, the teacher taught K-8 grades, but in our modern school, there are 3 teachers per grade. We both have bathrooms, but we call them different names. The old-fashioned bathrooms were called privies, but the schools now call them restrooms. The penmanship is different. Their heat came from a heater. I learned that the teacher stayed at kid's houses, but now teachers go to their own home. I really enjoyed my visit to Stuhr, and I think if you ever get to go to Stuhr you should go see the Country Schoolhouse. |
