Dodge Elementary School, Grand Island, Nebraska

School In 1888

In 1888 schools were little. The restrooms were outside. Teachers taught kids in different grades. Kids parents' had to buy their own books.

Kids had to sit correctly or if you did not sit correctly you would need to go to a very cold room. Students then wrote with dip ink pens. They had to dip the pens in the ink all the time. Kids could bring horses but they had to take care of them. They had lunch boxes like us, but their lunch boxes were used syrup buckets.

It was fun at Stuhr Museum Country School. I learned lots of cool things about 1888.
