My Day at Pioneer School

There are many differences between the schools in 1888 and 1998. These are some differences: The kids in 1888 had four different positions to sit and to stand up to read or answer a question. Today we can just sit when we talk to the teacher. In 1888, the parents had to pay for the books and now the taxpayers pay for our books and supplies. Back then the heater was a wood-burning stove. Now we use a heat pump to keep us warm. In 1888, one teacher would teach all grades. Now we have one teacher for each grade.

However, the schools of 1888 and today both have similarities. One similarity is we both have penmanship. We both have heat or else we would freeze to death. Another similarity is that we both have plays, math and clocks! Most of all, both kinds of schools are places where kids can learn and teachers teach!
