Children's Life During the Civil War
By Emily And Ashley Children's lives are really hard. Some of them are in the war. Some are working on the farm. One kid said, "Life is harder now than it has ever been before." Another kid said, "I had to quit school so that we could help mom with the chores." As we went to people's houses a lot of children said, "We miss our moms and dads, A LOT!! Our parents haven't been home since April 30,1861. I haven't been to school since the beginning of the year. We feel like we have no parents. My older sister cooks the food and my little sister does the dishes. My older brother and I work out in the field and get water from the well which is about 1 and 1/2 miles away from the house." This is just a little of what children go through these days.

CONFEDERATES HOLD OFF SHERMAN'S MEN
